Benchtop Freeze Dryers

Benchtop freeze dryers are great for small-scale projects or R&D work. Our LyoDry Benchtop models, for example, handle up to 5kg of ice per batch, making them ideal for many applications. They’re often paired with an acrylic chamber and stainless-steel tray accessory for bulk drying. But if you’re freeze drying a very wet product or scaling up to include more samples per batch, 5Kg ice capacity may be insufficient.

Higher Capacity Freeze Drying? Step Up to the LyoDry Midi and Midi Pro

That’s where the LyoDry Midi and LyoDry Midi Pro come in. These models offer a generous 18kg ice condenser capacity - without the cost of a fully automated pilot-scale system.

Just like our benchtop units, the LyoDry Midi is modular. You can choose the drying chamber and accessories that suit your needs. For larger batches, the LSCC10 ten-tray chamber is a popular choice. Each tray measures 450 mm x 345 mm x 30 mm, giving you a total drying area of 1.5m². It comes unheated as standard, but you can opt for heating up to 60°C, and even add a manifold valve for flask drying. Prefer fewer trays? The LSCC5 version is also available. Both options offer higher capacity freeze drying than your average benchtop freeze dryer.

Advanced Features with the LyoDry Midi Pro

Need more control and connectivity? The LyoDry Midi Pro steps up with features like data logging, pressure control, USB and Ethernet ports, and a colour touchscreen. Pair it with a heated chamber and you can run pre-programmed freeze-drying recipes, making your workflow even smoother.

All LyoDry Freeze Dryers are designed and built in the UK by MechaTech Systems Ltd, near Bristol. They meet the latest standards, use CFC-free refrigeration gas, and are built by F-Gas certified engineers. Fast cool-down times help to reduce energy useage and extend the life of the equipment.
